Every recipe published on ferhatsimsek has been gathered directly from its source — whether that means sitting at a grandmother's kitchen table in Gaziantep, following a bread baker through the pre-dawn hours in Konya, or carefully cross-referencing handwritten family notebooks passed down across three generations in the Aegean.
These are not reinterpretations. They are documentations. Each dish is presented as close to its regional origin as possible, with notes on local variations, seasonal ingredients, and the historical or cultural context that gives the food its meaning.
Turkish food culture spans eight geographic regions, each with distinct climates, agricultural traditions, and historical influences — from Byzantine and Ottoman court cuisine to nomadic Turkic cooking practices. ferhatsimsek exists to ensure this breadth is not reduced to a handful of well-known dishes.
This project has never accepted a sponsorship, affiliate arrangement, or product endorsement of any kind. There are no paid placements buried in ingredient lists. What you read here is what has been tasted, tested, and documented through years of firsthand field research.
Recipes traced to their geographic and cultural point of origin across all seven regions of Turkey.
Oral recipes, handwritten notebooks, and inherited techniques transcribed with care and full attribution.
No brand deals, no affiliate codes, no paid inclusions — ever. This project is funded by nothing but genuine dedication.
"To cook a dish is to tell the story of a people. To document it is to keep that story alive."
